Low Voltage Technician

Job Purpose:

The Senspex Engineering Department is responsible for the development and application of physical security systems for customers in the continental United States, commercial and government contracts. We are currently seeking a low voltage technician with a strong focus on high quality system-based security installations. Team members will assist in the procurement, assembly, installation, and testing of security components and systems. The candidate will also assist in the review of system designs and will interface with contractors to have systems built on site. Travel maybe required, up to 50%. Candidate must possess a valid low voltage license.

Essential Functions:

  • Integrate access control security/video surveillance, & fire alarm systems using commercially available products.
  • Provide support and recommendations for new and existing equipment with regard to installation, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings for assembling electronics.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary.
  • Maintain system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment.
  • Adjust and replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electrical components.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, or other training to maintain knowledge.
  • Test electronic units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance.

Education/Experience:

Candidate must possess a valid low voltage license. An associates degree in electronics technology or 0-3 years experience designing and installing complex security systems. Experience working in a military or federal environment is a plus. Candidate must have a clean record with no felony convictions. The successful candidate should have the ability to work independently, and provide project and installation support; effective communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of security component design, installation, and testing. A working understanding electrical circuits; shielding and grounding, RF and multi-conductor cables; and/or fiber optics communication skills also desired. Working knowledge of CAD tools and the ability to perform documentation of field installations. Above all, a professional attitude is required.

Work Environment:

Senspex, Inc. is a small company requiring flexibility for multi-task functions. Candidate must be energetic, willing to assist other team members, and motivated to assume additional responsibilities. Office environment Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM. Must be willing to travel for project installations.
